Strong composition begins before you create a camera. In Cinema 4D, the viewport is your fastest environment for testing balance, hierarchy, depth, and visual direction while you model, light, and arrange a scene.
Instead of treating composition as a final rendering step, use viewport framing as an active design tool. A few deliberate choices early in the process can prevent a scene from feeling flat, crowded, or visually confusing later.
When you are ready to test a camera view, create a camera from the current viewport angle rather than guessing its position. Navigate until the shot feels right, then use Cameras > Create Camera from View. This preserves your exploratory framing and gives you a reliable starting point for refinements such as focal length, depth of field, and camera shift.
Finally, review the shot at the intended output aspect ratio. A composition that works in a wide desktop frame may fail in a vertical social post. Use Render Settings to establish the final dimensions early, then assess whether the subject remains readable at thumbnail size.
