Set up your takeoff for clean links
- Calibrate once per sheet set and save to a Preset Scale for consistency.
- Use disciplined Subjects, Labels, and Colors (e.g., “Wall – GWB 1HR”) and save tools in your Tool Chest.
- Add Custom Columns in the Markups List (e.g., Spec, Assembly, Cost/Unit, Total with a formula = Measurement x Cost/Unit).
- Organize by Spaces (Level 01, Core, Wing) or Layers to enable targeted filters.
Create the live link in Excel
- In Excel, open the Bluebeam ribbon > Quantity Link > New.
- Select your PDF, choose filters (Page Range, Space, Subject, Layer, Color, Label, Author).
- Pick the value to return: Count, Length, Area, Volume, Perimeter, Wall Area, or Sum of a Custom Column (e.g., Total).
- Insert into a cell; copy the formula down rows to build schedules and cost summaries.
