Bluebeam Tip: Using the Cutout Tool for Precise Area and Volume Adjustments in Bluebeam Revu

The Cutout Tool in Bluebeam Revu is an essential feature for making precise adjustments to area and volume measurements. It allows you to subtract irregular shapes or voids from your measurements without having to redo the entire markup.

Here's how to effectively use the Cutout Tool for adjustments:

  • Select the existing area or volume measurement markup that you want to adjust.
  • On the Measurements panel, choose the Cutout Tool. Alternatively, right-click on the selected markup and choose Edit > Cutout.
  • Draw the shape of the area you want to exclude by clicking to place vertices. For curved edges, click and drag to create arc segments.
  • Complete the cutout by clicking on the first point or by pressing Enter to close the shape.
  • The cutout will subtract the defined area from the original measurement, updating the total area or volume accordingly.

Tips for efficient use:

  • Use the Properties panel to adjust the appearance of your measurements and cutouts for clearer visualization.
  • If you make a mistake while drawing, press Esc to cancel or use Ctrl+Z to undo the last action.
  • Cutouts can be modified or deleted by selecting them and using the editing tools, ensuring your measurements stay accurate even if changes occur.
