Bluebeam Tip: Measure Irregular Corridor Areas in Bluebeam Revu with Polylines and Dynamic Fill

Quantify irregular corridors fast by measuring the area between two polylines in Bluebeam Revu. For licensing, upgrades, or expert training, connect with @NOVEDGE.

  1. Calibrate once
    • Tools > Measure > Calibrate using a known distance.
    • Save to the Scale List for reuse across sheets.
  2. Trace both corridor edges as polylines
    • Select Measurements > Polyline Length and follow each boundary.
    • Enable Snap to Content and Snap to Markup for accuracy.
    • Place each on a “Boundaries” layer; lock them to prevent shifts.
  3. Use Dynamic Fill to create the area between
    • Launch Dynamic Fill (Alt+Y).
    • In Boundary options, enable Markups (and Content if native linework is usable).
    • Click inside the corridor to preview the fill.
  4. Cap the open ends
    • Choose Add Boundary and draw short caps at corridor ends to fully enclose the region.
    • Add caps around interior voids you need excluded (e.g., shafts).
  5. Output a precise Area measurement
    • Enable Create Area and click Apply.
    • Set Subject to “Corridor Area,” assign a distinct color and hatch, and place on a “Corridor Areas” layer.
  6. QA and refine
    • Sanity-check by length × average width on a sample segment.
    • Use Area Cutouts for niches or columns; add Labels for Level/Zone.
  7. Report and standardize
    • Add Custom Columns (Level, Phase, Finish Type) and sum in the Markups List.
    • Export to CSV/Excel for takeoff logs; auto-generate a Legend.
    • Right‑click > Add to Tool Chest to save a reusable “Corridor Area” style.
