Speed up approvals and audits by applying markup stamps that auto-fill date and user data in Bluebeam Revu.
How to build a dynamic stamp
- Go to Tools > Stamp > Create Stamp to open the Stamp Editor.
- Set size and background (transparent is ideal for overlaying on drawings).
- Add Text objects and insert dynamic fields for:
- Date and Time
- User (Author)
- Filename and Page Label
- Use the Properties panel to standardize font, color, border, Subject, and custom data you want reflected in the Markups List.
- Save the stamp with a clear, versioned name (e.g., “APPROVED_Dated_User_v3”).
Make it a team standard
- Share the stamp via a network or cloud location and point teams to it under Revu > Preferences > File Locations > Stamps.
- Include the stamp and settings inside a shared Profile so everyone gets identical behavior.
- Document usage rules (who places which stamp, when to flatten) in your SOPs.
Usage tips
- Place the stamp from the toolbar dropdown; resize with handles; set Lock in Properties to prevent accidental edits.
- Leave stamps unflattened for internal reviews to preserve data in the Markups List; Flatten before external publishing for security and file size.
- Create variants: “Approved,” “Reviewed,” “Rejected,” each with distinct color and wording to avoid ambiguity.
Advanced options
- Use JavaScript in the stamp PDF to format dates (e.g., ISO 8601) or add conditional text (revision code, initials, or shift).
- Map the Revu Author (Preferences > General) to reflect the correct username in the stamp.
