Bluebeam Tip: Custom Status Sets in Bluebeam Revu

Create and apply Custom Status Sets in Bluebeam Revu to standardize reviews, accelerate approvals, and produce cleaner reports.

  • Build a Status Set
    • Open the Markups List, select the gear icon, and choose Manage Status.
    • Click Add, name your set (e.g., “Submittal Review” or “Punch Closeout”), and optionally target it to specific Subjects (Cloud+, Callout, Measurement, etc.).
    • Add States (e.g., Pending, In Review, Approved, Rejected, Revise & Resubmit, Closed) and assign colors for quick visual cues.
    • Reorder states to match your workflow and Save. Export the set to share with your team or include it in a company Profile for easy deployment.
  • Apply Status at Scale
    • Select one or multiple markups, right‑click > Set Status, then choose your set and state. You can also change the Status directly from the Markups List Status column.
    • Bulk update by filtering the Markups List first, then selecting all visible results before setting the Status.
  • Make Statuses Visible and Actionable
    • In the Markups List gear menu, enable Color By > Status to auto‑color markups by their current state without changing their properties.
    • Add Status, Status Date, and Author columns to track progress and accountability.
    • Filter by Status to focus work, then export a Summary grouped by Status with hyperlinks for punch walks and submittal logs.
  • Collaborate Confidently
    • In Studio Sessions, Status changes are time‑stamped and attributed; ensure all participants have the same Status Set for consistency.
    • Status history carries with the PDF, improving auditability across handoffs.
  • Pro Tips
    • Pair Status Sets with Custom Columns (e.g., Discipline, Responsibility) for targeted filters and dashboard‑ready exports.
    • Save your Status Sets inside a shared Profile to onboard new users fast.
