Bluebeam Tip: Creating Custom Dynamic Stamps in Bluebeam Revu for Enhanced PDF Workflows

Dynamic stamps in Bluebeam Revu enable you to add interactive elements like auto-updating dates, times, and user information to your PDFs. Follow these steps to create your own dynamic stamps and enhance your document workflows:

  1. Create a New Stamp File:
    • Open Bluebeam Revu.
    • Go to File > New PDF to create a new blank document.
    • Set the page dimensions suitable for your stamp (e.g., 2" x 2").
  2. Design Your Stamp:
    • Use the markup tools to add text, images, or shapes to your stamp.
    • Ensure the design aligns with your branding or document requirements.
  3. Add Form Fields for Dynamic Content:
    • Select Tools > Form > Text Box.
    • Click on the stamp canvas to place the text box where dynamic content is needed.
    • Right-click the text box and choose Properties.
    • Name the field (e.g., DateField, UserName).
  4. Insert JavaScript for Dynamic Fields:
    • In the Properties panel, navigate to the Calculate tab.
    • Select Custom calculation script and click Edit.
    • Enter JavaScript code for the dynamic content:
      • Current Date:
        event.value = util.printd("mm/dd/yyyy", new Date());
      • User Name:
        event.value = identity.name;
    • Click OK to save the script.
  5. Save and Import the Stamp:
    • Save the PDF in the default stamp folder or a designated location.
    • In Revu, go to Tools > Stamp > Import Stamp.
    • Select your saved stamp file to import it into the stamps list.
  6. Utilize Your Dynamic Stamp:
    • Open the PDF where you wish to place the stamp.
    • Select Tools > Stamp and choose your custom stamp.
    • Click on the document to place the stamp; dynamic fields will populate automatically.

By creating dynamic stamps, you streamline repetitive tasks and maintain consistency across your documents.
