Bluebeam Tip: Create Concise Markup Summaries in Bluebeam Revu

Tip

Turn your Markups List into clear, shareable reports that drive action. Here’s how to create concise, data-rich Markup Summaries in Bluebeam Revu.

Prepare for a clean summary

  • Calibrate drawings first so quantity and measurement fields are accurate in your output.
  • Standardize Subjects and Colors for markups to enable meaningful grouping and quick scanning.
  • Add Status values (e.g., Open, In Review, Approved) to track progress through the workflow.
  • Create Custom Columns (Cost Code, Discipline, Responsible Party, Priority) to capture job-specific data.
  • Define Spaces (rooms, zones, elevations) so you can group results by physical areas.

Filter and sort before exporting

  • In the Markups List, apply Filters (by Status, Subject, Author, etc.) to limit the summary to what matters now.
  • Sort by Priority, Space, or Date so recipients follow a logical sequence.

Create the summary

  • Open the Markups List panel and choose Summary, then select PDF Summary, CSV Summary, or XML Summary.
  • Pick Columns to include; move your Custom Columns up to highlight key project data.
  • Group By: Page, Space, or Subject to align the report with how your team executes work.
  • Enable Thumbnails to add small snapshots of each markup; useful for punch, RFIs, and design comments.
  • Include Hyperlinks so readers can jump from the report back to the exact markup on the sheet.
  • Choose “Include filtered markups only” if you’ve pre-filtered the list.

Choose the right format

  • PDF Summary: Best for stakeholders and field crews; easy to read with groups and thumbnails.
  • CSV Summary: Ideal for Excel/Power BI; pivot by Space, Status, or Discipline to analyze trends.

Pro tips

  • Use consistent Subjects and Statuses in a shared Profile to keep summaries uniform across the team.
  • Thumbnails increase file size—disable them for large sets or when sending via email.
  • Hyperlinks are most reliable when recipients open the PDF in Revu.
