V-Ray Rectangular Lights are one of the most effective tools for shaping believable illumination in architectural, product, and interior renders. Unlike point lights, a rectangular light has a visible emitting surface, so its size, position, and orientation directly influence shadow softness, reflections, and the overall mood of the image.
Think of every rectangular light as a virtual softbox. Whether you are simulating a window, a ceiling panel, a studio diffuser, or a practical fixture, its physical dimensions are as important as its intensity.
One of the most useful advantages of V-Ray Rectangular Lights is their effect on reflective materials. Their rectangular shape is visible in glossy reflections, making them ideal for studio product rendering. Place a large light above and in front of a product to create a clean highlight on polished metal, glass, lacquer, or plastic.
