Starting with multiple sessions, made up from any source material, Sequoia lets you compose your final cut easily and efficiently with Source Destination Cut.

Source Destination Cut in action: multiple project windows let you monitor source and destination together. Navigate through source material to set the next cut even during destination playback. Editing takes place via markers to enable 2, 3 or 4-point cuts. Shift and rearrange new parts keeping source material untouched and in position.

Speed up your workflow around large projects containing many different clips resulting in a reduced track count and improved performance using the dedicated object buffer.

Object-based editing in action: apply processing independently to each object and in real time with the dedicated buffer: plug-in chains, AUX sends, pitch shifting and time stretching, EQ and automation. Seamlessly work with assets of any format without any conversion required.

Collecting the best takes

Save time minimizing the search for audio material. Organize similar takes automatically in an overview project.

Multi-Synchronous Cut (MuSyC) for automated take management: MuSyC analyses your material and adds an overview project to the source destination cut by displaying takes with musical similarity. A multi-track recording take is represented by a single object making it possible to make sound change and cuts even with takes recorded at different tempos. If a section of music has been recorded multiple times, the takes are arranged together and displayed in time.

Keep the balance

Ensure quality by staying in control of your signal path. Check frequency curves, phase correlations and loudness progressions every step of the way.

Metering and matching standards: attach visualizations and metering to different inputs, outputs and submixes. Including a wide range of peak, loudness and correlation metering types as well as spectroscope, spectrogram and oscilloscope. Batch process multiple files based on individual loudness parameters. Benefit from integrated international loudness standards such as EBU R128 and ITU-R BS.1771.

Seamless transitions

Like there is no cut: Sequoia used asymmetrical curves for natural sounding transitions between different takes. The advanced crossfade editor enables individual fade-in and -out curves for unrivaled flexibility.

Advanced crossfade editor in action: make exact cut adjustments and design object transitions as needed. All fade characteristics can be customised (e.g. length, curve, position in the audio material). Different fade variations can be managed via snapshots for quick comparisons and playback commands can be carried out in order to evaluate transitions instantly.

Putting the last pieces together

It requires hours of playing time to keep focused amid various tasks: Complete a large number of cutting operations inside larger projects while saving time by managing screen space along the schedule. Examine your recordings before composing your final edit on clean tracks or in a new project.

Source Destination Cut: you may see and play back source and destination tracks concurrently and independently in two separate display areas. Both areas may be individually explored, zoomed, and played. While playback is in progress in the destination area, you can browse to the source material to set up the next cut. Markers are used to do the actual editing, and you may make 2, 3, or 4-point cuts. Rearrange and shift your modifications.

Focus on the object level and integrate individual clips in the mix. This way, you don't need to create new tracks for short sections that are in projects with complex arrangements and longer duration.

Apply effects or route objects to AUX and Surround buses. From fades to effect and pitch editing, all edits you make are non-destructive and are calculated during playback. So there's plenty of room for experimentation.

Ready for release

Get the final master ready for replication according to Red Book standard. Sequoia supports professional file exchange between mastering studios and pressing plants with DDP import and export.

Authoring and exporting: use the encoder preview plug-in to ensure the best sound for export formats such as AAC or MP3. Insert track markers, codes and meta data before burning to CD. Save time by monitoring and exporting DDP masters.
