The latest release of Chaos Corona 11 for 3ds Max and Cinema 4D is here, and it brings a plethora of advanced features designed to propel the capabilities of artists and designers to new heights. This update focuses on enhancing the user experience through more efficient scene creation, improved realism, and innovative procedural tools that can make everyday tasks more intuitive and artistic expression more accessible.
Key features in Corona 11 for 3ds Max and Cinema 4D include:
Corona Tile Map
One of the standout features in Corona 11 is the new Corona Tile Map. It revolutionizes how designers approach the texturing of surfaces such as bathrooms, kitchens, walls, and floors. With its advanced procedural capabilities, the Corona Tile Map allows users to apply bitmaps or procedural maps to tiles, offering options to repeat, randomize, and even create a "pixellated" effect on the tiles. Its versatility extends to multiple inputs and outputs, enabling a singular tile map to simultaneously control a variety of surface properties such as color, glossiness, bump, and displacement.
Scatter Altitude
Scatter Altitude is another new feature that significantly enhances the realism of natural scenes. By defining upper and lower limits for scattering objects, users can create more lifelike environments. Imagine populating the treeline of a mountain or adding a school of fish to a simulation—Scatter Altitude allows these elements to interact appropriately with their surroundings without undue manipulation.
Scatter Look At & Edge Map/Edge Shader
The Scatter Look At function provides a quick way to orient scattered items in a uniform direction, such as directing pedestrians towards a monument or ensuring fish swim coherently within an aquarium. The introduction of the Edge Map/Edge Shader greatly aids in the application of weathering or stains to the edges of objects, which is particularly useful for thin or flat objects like leaves or paper. This tool creates a gradient based on the proximity to an object's edge, enhancing the depth and authenticity of textures.
Pyro
Add a new level of dynamic to your scenes with the Pyro feature. This tool integrates smoke, fire, and other simulations directly within Corona for Cinema 4D, eliminating the need for exporting to OpenVDB and reloading the simulation. It streamlines the process, making it more efficient and user-friendly.
Corona Power Tools
Corona 11 for 3ds Max comes with a suite of scripts called Corona Power Tools. These are designed to accelerate workflow and replace repetitive tasks with more efficient operations. For instance, the Replace Selection tool simplifies swapping out objects within a scene, enhancing the variety and realism of the environment. Other features in Corona Power Tools include object randomization and pivot point adjustments, among others, which prove highly beneficial across various design scenarios.
Other Enhancements
In addition to these features, Corona 11 introduces improved Normal/Bump filtering, which preserves the integrity of texture details that might otherwise be lost due to reduced render resolution or changes in object-camera distance. The integration of the new Intel Denoiser, now compatible with both CPU and NVIDIA GPU, further refines the rendering process, ensuring clean and clear results across all compatible devices.
These innovations, coupled with the existing robust toolset of Corona 11, enable designers and artists to create more captivating visuals with a level of control and efficiency previously unattainable. The focus on user experience and enhanced realism ensures that creativity can flow without technical constraints, making Corona 11 an indispensable upgrade for professionals using 3ds Max and Cinema 4D.
Customers will only need to purchase a single Corona license to access both Corona integrations, for 3ds Max
and Cinema 4D. Corona will also be offered in two tiers: Solo and Premium.
