- Customize blade count, rotation, and anamorphic ratio (Redshift) to emulate real glass.
- Add slight chromatic aberration and bloom in post, not the renderer, to maintain control and render speed.
Post-production DOF:
- Render a 32‑bit Z-Depth pass (linear EXR). Set near/far properly to maximize precision around your subject.
- Apply depth-of-field in compositing for interactive tweaks across shots; note that transparency/volumes may require in-render DOF for accuracy.
Common pitfalls to avoid:
- Mismatch of scale and lens settings leading to unnatural blur. Calibrate units and camera metadata early.
- Animated focus popping due to stepped keys. Use spline-tangent curves or a smoothed Focus Target.
- Under-sampling specular bokeh causing sparkle noise. Increase light samples and clamp excessively hot highlights when needed.

- Lock camera once framed; animate only Focus Distance (or Focus Target) for clean rack-focus.
- Save a “no-DOF” Take for fast lookdev previews.
