Bluebeam Tip: Verify Printer Page Size and Scaling in Bluebeam Revu

Correct printer page-size settings are essential when printing construction drawings, submittals, and review sets from Bluebeam Revu. A mismatch between the PDF page size, selected printer paper, and print scaling can result in clipped borders, incorrect dimensions, or drawings reduced to an unusable scale.

Before printing, confirm the document’s page dimensions in Revu, then match them to the paper size available in the selected printer.

  • Open the Print dialog: Select File > Print or use Ctrl+P.
  • Select the correct printer: Choose the physical plotter, office printer, or Bluebeam PDF printer as needed.
  • Verify paper size: Open Properties or Preferences beside the selected printer and choose the appropriate sheet size, such as Letter, Legal, Tabloid, ANSI D, ARCH D, or ARCH E.
  • Match orientation: Set portrait or landscape based on the drawing layout. Auto-rotation can help, but verify the preview before committing to a large print run.
  • Review scaling: For full-size drawings, select Actual Size when the printer paper matches the PDF. Use Fit to Page only when scaling is acceptable.
  • Check the preview: Confirm that borders, title blocks, and critical notes remain inside the printable area.

For plotters, the printer driver controls which roll widths and sheet sizes are available. If a required ARCH or ANSI size is missing, update the printer driver settings or ask your IT/plotting administrator to add the paper form. Avoid solving a missing page size by scaling the drawing arbitrarily—this can invalidate printed measurement references.

When creating a PDF rather than printing on paper, configure the page size in the Bluebeam PDF printer settings first. This helps preserve the intended document format for downstream reviewers and avoids rework caused by mismatched sheets.
