Bluebeam Tip: Streamline Multi-Sheet Revision Review with Bluebeam Batch Compare

When several revised drawing sheets arrive at once, reviewing them one pair at a time can be slow and prone to missed changes. Bluebeam Revu’s Batch Compare feature helps teams identify differences across multiple document pairs in one workflow, making it especially valuable for addenda, bulletin sets, and recurring design updates.

To begin, open Batch > Compare Documents. Add the original and revised PDF files, then pair the corresponding sheets. Revu creates comparison documents that highlight changes so reviewers can focus on what changed rather than searching manually.

  • Use consistent file names: Clearly named sheets, such as A101_Rev1 and A101_Rev2, make pairing faster and reduce the chance of comparing the wrong revisions.
  • Confirm page alignment first: Comparison results are most reliable when sheets share the same orientation, page size, and registration. If needed, use alignment options before running the comparison.
  • Set an organized output location: Save results in a dedicated “Compare” or “Revision Review” folder. This preserves the source files and gives the team a clear audit trail.
  • Review visual differences carefully: Batch Compare highlights added, removed, and modified content, but it does not replace professional review. Verify whether detected differences are meaningful design changes or simply shifted content, title block edits, or plotting variations.
  • Use results for coordination: Add markups, assign statuses, or export a Markups List to communicate actions to project stakeholders.

A practical workflow is to batch compare the complete revised set immediately after receipt, then distribute only the sheets with substantive changes to the appropriate disciplines. This helps estimators, field teams, project managers, and coordinators prioritize their review time.
