Bluebeam Tip: Rapid Quantity Validation with Bluebeam Revu Count Panel

Validate quantities fast in Bluebeam Revu using the Count panel and a disciplined workflow.

  • Preparation
    • Calibrate the sheet first so each count is tied to an accurate scale (Measurements panel).
    • Enable Snaps to Content/Intersection for precise placements.
    • Create or select clear Count symbols in your Tool Chest; set Subject, Layer, and color to distinguish trades or item types.
  • Place and manage counts
    • Open the Count panel (or enter Count mode), pick your symbol, and place instances across pages.
    • Use Visual Search to accelerate placement: find repeated details/symbols and convert matches into Count markups after reviewing results.
    • Right‑click an existing Count and choose Resume Count to continue the same series without creating duplicates.
    • Use Split Count to break a single series into separate groups (helpful when dividing by zones, floors, or phases).
  • Validate quickly
    • Open the Markups List, filter Type = Count, and Group by Subject, Page, or Layer to spot discrepancies immediately.
    • Show Page Label, Space, and Status columns; verify per‑room/zone totals when Spaces are defined.
    • Toggle Show/Hide indicators in Count mode to visualize all instances and uncover misses or overlaps.
    • Apply custom Statuses (e.g., Verified, Pending, Field Change) and colorize by status for at‑a‑glance QA/QC.
    • Use Comments to note assumptions (e.g., alternate fixtures) so exceptions are documented in the audit trail.
  • Report and handoff
    • Export a Markups List Summary (CSV/Excel/PDF) grouped by Subject and Space for estimating or buy‑out packages.
    • Where available, connect totals to Excel with Quantity Link for live updates as counts change.
    • Save your Count symbols and statuses into a shared Tool Set for team consistency on future projects.
