Bluebeam Tip: Quantity Link: Live Excel Sync for Revu Takeoffs

Keep your Excel estimates synchronized with your Revu takeoffs using Quantity Link—so your numbers are always current and defensible.

What it does

  • Connects Revu measurements (Area, Length, Count, Volume) directly to Excel cells.
  • Updates quantities as you add, edit, or delete markups—no manual copy/paste.
  • Filters by Subject, Layer, Page, or Space to drive discipline- or scope-specific totals.

Set up in minutes

  • In Excel, create a clearly labeled worksheet. Use a table or named cells for target totals.
  • In Revu, standardize tools from your Tool Chest (consistent Subjects, colors, layers).
  • Open the Quantity Link panel (chain icon) and select New Link. Browse to your workbook.
  • Choose the worksheet and target cell(s), then define which measurement(s) to push.
  • Add filters (e.g., Subject = “Area – Slab,” Space = “Level 02”) to control scope.

Work live and stay aligned

  • Keep Excel open to see totals refresh as you take off. Use Recalculate if needed.
  • Lock page scale and use Snap to Content for precise measurements and clean math.
  • Use Custom Columns (e.g., Cost Code, Phase) to segment data that feeds separate Excel cells.

Best practices

  • Don’t flatten markups until final—flattening breaks live links.
  • Match units/precision between Revu and Excel to avoid rounding surprises.
  • Name your links clearly (Project_Trade_Level) for reuse and quick audits.
  • Store PDFs and the workbook together in a stable path to prevent broken references.

Quick fixes

  • If a cell shows an unexpected value, check the link’s filters and the markup’s Subject/Layer.
  • If the workbook moved, re-browse to it from the Quantity Link panel to restore the path.
