Bluebeam Tip: Preset-Height Polylength Wall Area Toolset

Create an efficient, repeatable wall-area takeoff workflow in Bluebeam Revu by saving a Polylength-based custom tool that converts wall length to square footage via preset heights.

• Calibrate first: Tools > Measure > Calibrate. Verify against a known dimension to ensure accuracy.
• Create the tool (example: 10 ft walls):
  • Select the Polylength measurement tool.
  • In the Properties toolbar, set Width to your wall height (e.g., 10 ft or 3.0 m). This Width acts as the wall height; Revu will calculate Area = Length × Width.
  • Set a distinct color, line style, and a clear Subject (for example, Wall Area – 10 ft). Enable a caption that shows Area.
  • Right-click the markup > Add to Tool Chest > choose a Tool Set. Rename it for clarity.
  • Duplicate and adjust Width to create variants (8 ft, 9 ft, 12 ft; 2.7 m, 3.0 m, etc.).
• Trace walls:
  • Enable Snap to Content for clean alignments. Use Shift to lock orthogonal segments as needed.
  • Draw along the wall centerline or face; double-click to finish. The markup’s Area equals one wall face.
• Account for two sides and openings:
  • Markups List > gear > Manage Columns > Custom Columns:
  • Add Openings SF (Number, default 0) and Sides (Choice: 1, 2; default 1).
  • Add Net Wall SF (Formula): [Area] * [Sides] - [Openings SF].
  • For each run, set Sides to 2 if finishing both faces and enter total window/door area in Openings SF.
• Report and share:
  • Filter Markups List by Subject contains “Wall Area,” then export a CSV or PDF Summary.
  • Use Quantity Link to sync Net Wall SF to Excel for live pricing (available in Revu Complete). Licenses and upgrades via NOVEDGE.
  • Export your Tool Set to standardize across teams; keep it in your shared profile for consistency.
