Bluebeam Tip: Optimize Bluebeam Revu Workflows with Role-Based Profiles

Bluebeam Revu Profiles are one of the fastest ways to create a more consistent, efficient workspace. A Profile saves the arrangement of panels, toolbars, menus, keyboard shortcuts, and other interface preferences, so Revu can be configured around the task at hand rather than forcing every task into one layout.

Start by selecting a built-in Profile from Revu > Profiles. Options such as Revu, Revu Advanced, Quantity Takeoff, and Field Issues can provide a practical foundation. Then refine the workspace for your role.

• Reviewers: Keep the Markups List, Tool Chest, and Studio panels easy to access for rapid document review and collaboration.
• Estimators: Prioritize Measurements, Tool Chest, Markups List, and Properties panels to streamline takeoff workflows.
• Project managers: Set up Bookmarks, Thumbnails, Sets, and Studio for quick navigation across drawing packages and review sessions.
• Field teams: Create a simplified view with large, accessible markup tools and only the panels needed onsite.

Once the workspace is arranged, save it as a custom Profile. Go to Revu > Profiles > Manage Profiles, choose Add, and give the Profile a clear, role-based name such as “Electrical Takeoff” or “QA Review.” This makes it easy to switch layouts without rebuilding your workspace each time.

A useful best practice is to create an office-standard Profile that includes approved Tool Chest sets, common markup settings, and a predictable panel layout. Export the Profile and distribute it to the team so everyone begins with the same visual standards and tools. Consistent Profiles reduce setup time, support repeatable workflows, and make training much easier.

Before updating Revu or moving to a new workstation, export your custom Profile as a backup. Pair it with exported Tool Chest sets for a complete, portable configuration.
