Bluebeam Tip: Markups List Filtering for Task-Focused Reviews

Cut the noise and act faster by filtering the Markups List to show only what matters.

  • Open the Markups List: From the Panel bar or via Window > Panels > Markups List.
  • Enable filtering: Turn on the filter controls in the Markups List toolbar, then target columns like Status, Author, Subject, Color, Layer, Page, Date, Space, and any Custom Columns.
  • Stack criteria: Combine multiple filters (e.g., Status = Open AND Space = Level 2 AND Trade = Electrical) to focus your task list.
  • Show the right columns: Use the Columns menu to display fields you plan to filter (Status, Space, Page Label, Custom cost codes, etc.).
  • Save reusable presets: Use the panel options menu to save your current filter set for one-click recall on future reviews.
  • Bulk actions on filtered items: Select all visible (filtered) markups to apply Status updates, assign responsibility, or move to a new Layer—no need to hunt across pages.
  • Export focused reports: Create a Markup Summary (CSV, PDF) that includes only filtered results for issue logs, punch lists, and estimating handoffs.

Task-focused examples you can put to work today:

  • Punch list closeout: Status ≠ Complete, Discipline = Interiors, Space = Level 3. Bulk set owners and due dates, then export a PDF Summary for the site walk.
  • RFI triage: Subject contains “RFI”, Page Label includes “A-”, Date = last 7 days. Share the CSV with the design team.
  • Estimating review: Layer = Takeoff, Author = Estimating, Custom Column “Cost Code” is populated. Export a CSV for your estimating system.
  • Studio Sessions: Filter by Status = “Needs Response” to drive real-time reviews; apply status updates to the filtered selection.

Pro tips:

  • Create dropdown Custom Columns (Owner, Trade, Priority) to standardize filters across teams.
  • Use Spaces to make location-based filters effortless.
  • Pair filters with Tool Chest standards for consistent Subjects and easy querying.
