Bluebeam Tip: Markups List Filter Presets for Task-Based Views

Switch tasks without losing focus by using Filter Presets in Bluebeam Revu’s Markups List. Create purpose-built views you can toggle in seconds—perfect for reviews, takeoffs, and closeout.

  • Why it matters:
    • Speed: Instantly reveal only the markups you need for the task at hand.
    • Clarity: Reduce noise by hiding unrelated disciplines, users, or statuses.
    • Repeatability: Apply consistent review criteria across projects.

Set up Filter Presets:

  • Open the Markups List panel and click the Filter (funnel) icon.
  • Define conditions by column (for example, Status, Subject, Author, Layer, Color, Date, Page Label).
  • Add multiple rules to narrow results (e.g., Status = Open AND Subject = RFI).
  • Save the current configuration as a Preset, give it a clear, task-based name.
  • Use the Preset dropdown to switch views as your workflow changes.

Handy Presets to consider:

  • Open Items Only: Status = Open or None; hides Accepted/Completed items.
  • Discipline Review: Subject contains Architectural/Structural/MEP or Layer by discipline.
  • My Work Today: Author = Current User, Date = Today/This Week.
  • Estimator View: Subject = Measurements, and Color/Layer for takeoff standards.
  • Client Deliverable: Exclude internal notes; include only Clouds, Callouts, and Stamps.

Pro tips:

  • Pair presets with well-defined Statuses and Custom Columns for maximum control.
  • Use consistent Subjects, Layers, and colors so presets remain reliable across sets.
  • Name presets with a prefix (e.g., “QA – Open,” “EST – Takeoff”) for quick recognition.
  • Document your team’s preset conventions and share them during onboarding.
