Bluebeam Tip: Configure and Deploy Bluebeam Revu Keyboard Shortcuts

Keyboard shortcuts are the fastest way to turn Bluebeam Revu into a power tool. Here’s how to tailor them to your workflow in minutes.

  • Open the editor: Revu menu > Keyboard Shortcuts. Use the Search field to locate commands quickly, and set the filter to “Unassigned” to find opportunities.
  • Assign or change a shortcut: Select a command, click in the shortcut field, then press the key combo you want (for example, Ctrl+Alt+something). Revu flags conflicts so you can reassign or clear them immediately.
  • Prioritize high-impact actions:
    • Navigation and panels (toggle Properties, Markups List, Tool Chest).
    • Frequent tools (your most-used markup or measurement tools).
    • Document actions (Flatten, Reduce File Size, Batch Link, Summary).
  • Enable single-key accelerators (optional): Preferences > General > Tools > Enable Single-Key Shortcuts for Tools. This makes letter keys call tools instantly. Tip: press Esc to exit a tool before typing text to avoid accidental markups.
  • Adopt a mapping strategy:
    • Use Ctrl+Alt for document-wide actions.
    • Use Shift-modified keys for alternate tool variants.
    • Avoid overriding standard Windows combos (Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V, Ctrl+Z).
  • Export and share: In Keyboard Shortcuts, click Export to save your set for backup or rollout. Include it in a custom Profile (Revu > Profiles > Manage > Export) so your shortcuts deploy with toolbars, panels, and UI settings.
  • Migrate with confidence: Keep your exported shortcuts in version control or a shared location. Before upgrades or new machines, import your set to stay consistent.
  • Create a quick-reference: Document your team standard (PDF or intranet page) with the most important mappings and ownership for change requests.
