Bluebeam Tip: Bluebeam Revu Pre-Plot Checklist for Accurate Prints

Before you send drawings to the plotter, run this fast prep checklist in Bluebeam Revu to avoid reprints, muddy linework, and scale surprises.

  • Confirm page size and scale:
    • Document > Page Setup: verify sheet size matches the intended media (e.g., ARCH D, ISO A1).
    • Measurement > Calibrate, then lock the scale; add a scale bar on cover sheets for field checks.
    • In Print, prefer “Actual Size (100%)” over “Fit to Page” for true-to-scale plots.
  • Color and line control:
    • Document > Color Processing: convert to Grayscale/Black & White when required by your plot spec.
    • Enable Line Merge in the Print dialog to prevent filled regions from masking linework.
    • Use hatch/line styles with clear contrast; avoid ultra-light grays that vanish on bond paper.
  • Layers and print states:
    • Open the Layers panel and toggle the printer icon for non-plot layers (notes, coordination aids).
    • Save a layer snapshot for repeatable plotting across the set.
  • Fonts and symbols:
    • File > Properties > Fonts: ensure critical fonts are embedded to prevent substitution on the plotter.
  • Images and scans:
    • Document > Optimize: downsample photos to 300 dpi; keep line-art at 600–1200 dpi for crisp results.
  • Flatten markups:
    • Document > Flatten with “Allow Markup Recovery” to lock annotations and maintain plot fidelity.
  • Border and crop:
    • Document > Crop Pages to trim stray edges so titles and stamps don’t clip at the margins.
  • Test print:
    • Print a single sheet to the Bluebeam PDF driver to validate scale, grayscale, and line merge before plotting the full set.
