Overview
With advanced features such as interactive render, true physically-based materials, innovative material layering, IES & HDRI light support along with a versatile rendering system comprised of biased, unbiased and GPU engines, rendering within Rhino has become really powerful. |

RELIGHTRelight allows you to create infinite images from a single render. When Relight is enabled, every light in the scene can then be modified (intensity, color and status) and create different lighting setups in post production. Every Relight setup can be saved in the Relight Editor panel as a Snap and then loaded back to the Darkroom for further editing or exported to an image file. |
|
INTERACTIVE RENDERINGThea for Rhino can run interactively in both Rhino’s Viewport and the Thea Darkroom. Select the desired Viewport and simply let Thea Render give you an immediate visualization of your scene. With the addition of NVIDIA’s and Intel’s artificial intelligence denoisers, it is also possible to make use of denoising while in Interactive Rendering mode. |
|
ADVANCED MATERIAL EDITORThe advanced Thea material editor has been fully integrated into Rhino, bringing all the advanced and unique features of Thea materials. On top of that, it is also possible to load materials in the editor using the Content Browser and make use of the Interactive Preview functionality to interactively preview materials before making the final decision. |
|
CONTENT BROWSERBrowse Thea Materials and Models from a unified window. With the Online Repository integrated in the Materials tab, you get access to thousands of materials, ready to download. The Models tab contains all the stored Thea Models with the option to import them as Proxies in Rhino without overloading Rhino’s Viewport. |
|
AI DENOISINGThea for Rhino supports both NVIDIA and Intel artificial intelligence Denoisers, offering GPU and CPU accelerated denoising for both interactive and production renderings. They dramatically reduce the render time, creating high-quality and noise-free images. |
BACK FACE MATERIAL SUPPORTThe back face of any surface can have a different material and this makes it now possible to create advanced materials like labels, sheets of papers and tree leaves. |
ADVANCED MATERIAL PRESETSTake advantage of the advanced material presets available in Thea for Rhino and create nearly every possible materials through an easy to use editor. |
BATCH RENDERINGBatch Rendering makes it possible to bring all the Named Views straight into Thea Darkroom and render them one after the other. Also, custom properties can be defined per Named View. |
RESUME RENDERResume rendering is available to the user when more samples are needed or the rendering needs to be completed at a different time. |
GRASSHOPPER® INTERACTIVE UPDATESThea for Rhino will render Grasshopper’s geometry while in Interactive Mode allowing you to see the result in photo realistic quality while working. |
OUT-OF-CORE RENDERINGOut-of-Core rendering can be enabled when a scene does not fit on the graphics card memory and use the mainboard memory instead. |

I’m a big fan of Thea, I bought Vray and prefer Thea for easy quick and blingy PreVis for Products and Architectural details. The licensing mechanism however is a bit much for a rendering plug in, making a what would normally be a seamless instal, a forced subscriber ship to an engineering software company I will most likely never use. 5stars for rendering and Materials, 3 stars for licensing bs equals 4 stars.
