Bluebeam Tip: Properties Filter for Targeted Markup Management

Use the Properties Filter to cut through markup clutter and act faster.

• Find and prepare:
  • Open the Markups List and click the Filter (funnel) icon.
  • Show the columns you plan to filter: Subject, Author, Status, Layer, Space, Date, Page Label, and any Custom Columns.
• Build precise filters:
  • Combine multiple criteria (e.g., Status = Open AND Space = Level 2 Corridor) to isolate what truly needs attention.
  • Use the quick filter box for fast text matches across common fields like Subject and Comments.
• Isolate by location with Spaces:
  • Define Spaces, then filter the Markups List by Space to focus punch, QA, or takeoff views on rooms, floors, or zones.
• Bulk actions on just the filtered items:
  • With a filter applied, press Ctrl+A in the Markups List to select only visible (filtered) rows.
  • Right-click > Set Status, or edit color, layer, and subject in the Properties panel for consistent presentation.
  • Group, lock, or flatten only the filtered markups when you’re ready to finalize.
• Export targeted reports:
  • From Markups List > Summary, generate PDF or CSV outputs that include only filtered or checked items—ideal for trade logs, RFIs, and daily updates.
• Pair with Layers:
  • Toggle Layers to hide noise, then apply the Properties Filter to act decisively on what remains—especially useful on multi-trade plan sets.
• Standardize for better filters:
  • Use consistent Subjects, Status definitions, and Custom Columns (e.g., Discipline, Priority) so filters stay reliable across projects.
  • Save Column Profiles to keep a repeatable, filter-ready view for your team.
• Quick QA tip:
  • Add a Legend before clearing filters to capture a visual snapshot of tool types and appearance on the sheet.
