Bluebeam Tip: Precise Markup Alignment with Snap to Grid

Need crisp, repeatable alignment without eyeballing? Turn on Snap to Grid in Bluebeam Revu to place markups with precision and speed.

  • Enable the grid:
    • Status Bar: Click the Grid/Snap icons at the bottom to Show Grid and toggle Snap to Grid.
    • Menu: View > Grid & Snap > Show Grid and Snap to Grid.
  • Set grid spacing:
    • View > Grid & Snap > Grid Settings to define spacing (e.g., 1’-0”, 6”, 100 mm) and major/minor divisions.
    • Pick colors and line weights that contrast with your drawings for visibility.
  • Place and move with confidence:
    • Drag markups (text boxes, clouds, symbols) and their control points will snap to grid intersections.
    • Use with leaders and callouts to maintain consistent offsets and angles across the sheet.
  • Combine snaps intelligently:
    • Keep Snap to Content on when you need to lock to vector lines; toggle it off when you want uniform spacing driven by the grid.
    • Pair with Align/Distribute for perfectly spaced rows and columns after initial placement.
  • Scale-aware setup:
    • Choose grid spacing that matches your sheet’s typical increments (e.g., 1’ on architectural plans, 100 mm on metric drawings).
    • For mixed-scale sets, save presets or note preferred spacings per discipline.
  • Standardize for teams:
    • Save Grid & Snap preferences inside your Revu Profile or include them in a template so everyone aligns the same way.
    • Document your grid conventions in a quick-start guide stored with your project files.

Pro tip: If snapping feels “sticky,” temporarily toggle off other snap modes to focus solely on the grid, then re-enable as needed.
