Bluebeam Tip: Maximizing PDF Protection in Bluebeam Revu with Advanced Permission Settings and Security Features

Enhance the security of your PDFs in Bluebeam Revu with these expert tips on utilizing Bluebeam's permission settings. Keeping your sensitive information protected is crucial when sharing documents amongst your project team or external stakeholders.

  • Document Permissions: Go to the Document menu, select Security, and then Permissions. Here, you can set passwords and control what others can do with your PDF, such as printing, copying text and images, and modifying the document.
  • Studio Session Security: When using Bluebeam Studio, manage participants' access by clicking on their name and setting their permissions. You can allow them to add markups or only view documents.
  • Markup Security: Lock your markups to prevent alterations. Select the markup, right-click, and choose Lock. Add a password for additional security.
  • Redaction: Permanently remove sensitive content using the Redaction feature, found under the Tools menu then selecting Redaction. This ensures that confidential information cannot be recovered or seen by unauthorized parties.
  • Document Restrictions: Restrict access to your PDF content by setting up Document Restrictions. This can prevent users from altering the document or restrict the ability to print to a high-quality output.
  • Digital Signatures: Apply digital signatures to your documents to validate their authenticity and integrity. Navigate to the Tools menu, select Signature and then Digitally Sign.
  • Save and Certificate Security: When saving your document, apply Certificate Security under the Security tab. This allows you to specify which actions are permitted by users who have the certificate you issued.
