Protect finished annotations from accidental edits by locking markups in Bluebeam Revu. This simple habit is especially useful when multiple reviewers are working from the same drawing set or when a markup has been approved and should remain unchanged.

To lock a markup, select it and use one of these methods:

• Right-click the markup and select Lock.
• Open the Properties panel and enable the lock option, when available.
• Select several markups first to lock an entire group of completed comments, measurements, or symbols at once.

Once locked, a markup cannot be accidentally moved, resized, rotated, or edited. It remains visible on the PDF and continues to appear in the Markups List, helping preserve coordination records without removing useful project information.

Locking is particularly effective for:

• Approved measurements: Prevent a completed takeoff from being shifted or altered during later review.

Keep in mind that locking is an editing safeguard, not document security. Users with appropriate access can unlock a markup, and locking does not permanently embed it into the PDF.
