Bluebeam Tip: Link Spaces to Measurements in Bluebeam Revu

Linking Spaces to Measurements in Bluebeam Revu turns takeoffs into location-aware data you can sort, filter, and summarize with precision. If you’re setting up Revu or upgrading features like Quantity Link, check NOVEDGE for licensing and plan options.

How to set it up

  • Open the Spaces panel (left/right panel bar) and choose Add Space (Rectangle or Polygon).
  • Trace each area and name it consistently, for example: Bldg-A_Level-02_Room-203.
  • Place your measurement markups inside these Spaces. Revu automatically records the Space name in each markup’s properties.
  • If Spaces were created after measurements, select the affected markups in the Markups List, right-click, and choose Recalculate Space to retro-assign them.

Reporting and QA

  • In the Markups List, right-click the header, enable the Space column, then sort or group by Space to see totals by room, floor, or zone.
  • Create a CSV Summary (open in Excel) and pivot by Space for location-based quantities. This aligns cleanly with QTO logs and bid packages.
  • Using Quantity Link? Filter your Excel tables by the Space field to maintain live, location-driven rollups. For guidance and best pricing, see NOVEDGE.

Pro tips

  • Standardize Space naming. Include building, level, and discipline to prevent duplicate or ambiguous locations.
  • Avoid overlapping Spaces; a single measurement should belong to one Space. If overlaps are necessary, audit with Recalculate Space and spot-check results.
  • Add custom columns (Trade, Phase, Spec Section) and combine with Space to produce multi-dimensional summaries.
  • Use Legends filtered by Selection or Page and include Space in your Markups List view for quick field verification.
  • In Studio Sessions, publish the PDF with Spaces pre-defined so every participant’s measurements inherit the correct Space.
