Bluebeam Tip: Export Clean Markups from Bluebeam Revu to CSV

Fast, accurate reports start with clean data. Here’s how to export Bluebeam Revu markups to a clean CSV that’s ready for dashboards, estimating, or audit trails.

Prep the Markups List for a reliable export:

  • Standardize Subjects via Tool Chest items so “like” markups group consistently.
  • Use Custom Columns (Manage Columns) for fields such as Trade, Package, Cost Code, Priority, or Responsible—prefer numeric types for quantities and costs.
  • Apply Status and Custom Status workflows (e.g., Open, In Review, Approved) to drive reporting.
  • Enable Spaces so each markup inherits a room/area value for location-based summaries.
  • Filter and sort the Markups List to the exact slice you want in the CSV.

Export to CSV:

  1. Open the Markups List panel and verify the columns you need are visible (Columns > Manage Columns).
  2. Apply any filters or grouping needed for your report.
  3. Select Summary and choose CSV Summary.
  4. Pick the columns to include, honor current filters/sorts, and confirm the file location.
  5. Save and open in Excel, Power BI, or your estimating platform.

Pro tips for cleaner, more actionable CSVs:

  • Keep numeric data numeric: store values without symbols; format currency and units in Excel.
  • Name pages with clear page labels—your CSV will carry those labels into reports.
  • Use consistent dropdown lists in Custom Columns to eliminate typos and improve pivot accuracy.
  • Don’t flatten before exporting—flattening removes live markup data from the Markups List.
  • Snapshot a “report view” profile (Profile > Save Profile) so everyone exports from the same standards.

Scaling this across teams? Standardize profiles, tool sets, and custom columns, and roll them out with a simple SOP. For licenses, deployment advice, or training on Revu reporting best practices, connect with NOVEDGE: novedge.com or explore Bluebeam options via NOVEDGE search.
