Bluebeam Tip: Export Bluebeam Revu Markups to Project Management Tasks via CSV

Turn Bluebeam Revu markups into actionable tasks by exporting to CSV and importing them into your project management software.

  • Prepare your data
    • Standardize Subjects (e.g., RFI, Punch, CO, Submittal) so they map cleanly to your destination fields.
    • Create Custom Columns in the Markups List for Assignee, Priority, Location/Space, Cost Code, and Due Date.
    • Use Statuses consistently (Open, In Review, Closed) to drive workflow stage mapping.
  • Optimize the Markups List
    • Right‑click any column header > Columns > Manage Columns to show only what you need (Subject, Comments, Page Label, Space, Author, Status, Custom Columns).
    • Apply Filters to isolate the exact set you plan to export (e.g., discipline, open items, date range).
    • Sort by Priority/Location for predictable ordering post‑import.
  • Export to CSV
    • Open Markups List > Summary > CSV Summary.
    • Choose All Pages (or Current) and include column headers.
    • If your PM tool requires UTF‑8 or a specific delimiter, confirm regional settings and verify in Excel via Data > From Text/CSV.
  • Import into management software
    • Map fields: Subject → Title; Comments → Description; Status → Workflow Stage; Assignee → Owner; Page Label/Space → Location; Priority/Cost Code → Tags/Custom fields.
    • Preserve a “Source File” field pointing to the drawing path or cloud link so teams can jump back to context.
    • For BI dashboards (Power BI/Excel), set data types (dates, numbers) and build slicers for Status, Priority, and Location.
  • Make it stick
    • Save column/filters as a Markups List preset for repeatability across projects.
    • Adopt a naming convention for Spaces and Page Labels to improve grouping.
    • Schedule regular exports (daily/weekly) to keep PM tools synchronized.
