Bluebeam Tip: Creating Custom Statuses in Bluebeam Revu for Enhanced Workflow Management

Enhance your workflow in Bluebeam Revu by creating custom statuses in the Markups List. Custom statuses allow you to track the progress of annotations, streamline communication, and maintain accountability throughout your project's lifecycle.

To create custom statuses:

  1. Open the Markups List by clicking on the panel at the bottom of the interface or pressing Alt + L.
  2. Click on the Status column header and select Manage Status from the dropdown menu.
  3. In the Manage Status dialogue box, click Add to create a new status model or select an existing one to modify.
  4. Name your status model (e.g., "Review Process") and click OK.
  5. Select your new model and under States, click Add to define custom statuses such as:
    • Pending Review
    • Approved
    • Needs Revision
    • Completed
  6. For each status, you can assign:
    • A unique Color for easy identification.
    • A specific Icon to symbolize the status.
    • Optional Comments for additional context.
  7. Arrange the order of statuses if necessary and click OK to save your custom statuses.

To apply custom statuses to your markups:

  1. Select a markup on your document.
  2. In the Markups List, click the Status cell corresponding to the selected markup.
  3. Choose the appropriate status from your custom list.

Benefits of using custom statuses include:

  • Improved Communication: Team members can instantly see the status of annotations.
  • Efficient Workflow Management: Easily track the progress of tasks and identify bottlenecks.
  • Enhanced Collaboration: Everyone stays informed, reducing errors and miscommunications.

By incorporating custom statuses into your workflow, you optimize project management and ensure that all stakeholders are aligned.
