Bluebeam Tip: Create an Auto-Updating Date Stamp in Bluebeam Revu

Speed up reviews by creating a custom stamp that auto-inserts today’s date the moment you place it in Bluebeam Revu.

  • Start a new stamp:
    • Go to Tools > Stamps > Create Stamp.
    • Choose a compact size (for example, 2 in x 1 in) and set a transparent background if you want to avoid obscuring content.
  • Design the layout:
    • Add your company logo (PNG/SVG works well) and a border or hatch fill for visibility.
    • Insert text for labels like “APPROVED,” “REVIEWED,” or “RECEIVED.”
  • Insert a dynamic date:
    • Add a text box where the date should appear.
    • With the text box selected, use the Insert/Dynamic Text option and pick Date. This token updates automatically on placement.
    • Adjust font, color, and alignment to match your standards.
  • Save and organize:
    • Click Save and assign a clear name (for example, “Approved – Dynamic Date”).
    • Use Tools > Stamps > Manage Stamps to sort into folders and distribute to teammates.
  • Use the stamp:
    • Select Tools > Stamps, choose your stamp, and click to place. Resize or rotate as needed.
    • When finalized, Document > Flatten to lock it into the PDF before issuing.

Pro tips

  • Date format follows your system locale—set your preferred format in Windows/macOS Regional settings.
  • Create multiple color variants (Approved, Rejected, For Review) that all share the same dynamic date behavior.
  • Add other Dynamic Text tokens (Username, Filename, Page Label) for richer traceability without manual typing.
  • Centralize stamps for your team using Manage Stamps and your shared network location or DMS.
