Bluebeam Tip: Configure Role-Based Profiles in Bluebeam Revu

Profiles let you tailor Bluebeam Revu to each role so teams move faster with fewer clicks.

  • Plan your profiles
    • Define 2–4 role-based profiles (e.g., Estimating, QA/QC, Submittal Review, Field).
    • List the tools, panels, and Markups List columns each role needs; exclude everything else.
  • Create the profile
    • Go to Revu > Profiles > Manage Profiles > Save As to duplicate the current setup.
    • Arrange panels (left/right/bottom), enable only essential toolbars, and pin frequently used tabs.
    • Click Revu > Profiles > Save Profile to capture the layout; Lock Interface to prevent drift.
  • Standardize data and behavior
    • In the Markups List, add Custom Columns (e.g., Cost Code, Discipline, Location) and Custom Statuses (e.g., Open, In Review, Approved, Rejected).
    • Pair the profile with curated Tool Sets using company colors, line weights, and hatch patterns.
    • Assign consistent text styles via Properties to match project standards.
  • Deploy and manage
    • Export the profile (.bpx) from Manage Profiles; include Tool Sets, Custom Columns, and Statuses.
    • Store the .bpx on a shared drive or Studio Project; users import via Revu > Profiles > Import and set as Default.
    • For company-wide rollout, have IT push the .bpx to users’ Profiles folder in AppData.
    • Version your profile names (e.g., “Estimating_2026.06”) and keep a changelog.
  • Pro tips
    • Keep profiles lean; remove panels and toolbars that create noise.
    • Create a “Sandbox” profile for testing new tools before promoting to production.
    • Review profiles quarterly; retire legacy Tool Sets to prevent drift.
