Bluebeam Tip: Color-Accurate Snapshot Workflow in Bluebeam Revu

Use Snapshot to capture color-true sections for RFIs, presentations, and progress updates without redrawing.

  • Standardize colors before you capture:
    • Create Tool Chest styles with exact RGB values for phasing, trades, or statuses to prevent drift.
    • Avoid semi-transparent fills for critical legend colors; use 100% opacity where color fidelity matters.
  • Capture cleanly with Snapshot:
    • Press G to activate Snapshot, then click–drag the region. Decide whether to include existing markups via the Include Markups toggle on the Status Bar.
    • Paste into the same sheet or another PDF (Ctrl+V) as a Snapshot markup, or paste directly into emails and slide decks.
  • Keep colors true from screen to share-out:
    • For deliverables, prefer lossless exports: File > Export > Image > PNG > Area to avoid JPEG compression shifts.
    • When pasting back into Revu, select the Snapshot markup and set Opacity to 100% for color-critical callouts.
  • Make the content readable without altering hue:
    • Use the Snapshot Dim control: set Dim to 0% for accurate color, or 60–80% to create a subdued background while your new annotations pop.
    • Add a thin border to the Snapshot so reviewers can see the extracted region at a glance.
  • Maintain context and scale:
    • Include a small scale note or a known-length line in the captured region to preserve scale cues.
    • Keep legend swatches inside the Snapshot if color meaning is essential to the review.
  • Quality check:
    • If print tests show drift, adjust per-file using Document > Color Processing > Change Colors to normalize outliers rather than recoloring entire drawings.
