Bluebeam Tip: Batch-edit markups in Bluebeam Revu using the Properties panel

Speed up reviews by editing multiple markups at once with the Properties panel in Bluebeam Revu.

  • Select multiple markups:
    • Drag a selection window across the page, or Ctrl/Shift‑click to add/remove specific items.
    • From the Markups List, filter by Type, Author, Layer, or Status, then select all results to target exactly what needs updating.
  • Open the Properties panel (right panel > Properties). Revu shows only the fields common to your selection to prevent accidental mismatches.
  • Edit once, apply to many:
    • Appearance: color, line weight, opacity, hatch/pattern, text size, and fonts.
    • Metadata: Subject, Layer, Author (read-only), and custom columns visibility.
    • Measurement settings: show/hide captions, precision, units display, and label options for counts and takeoffs.
  • Standardize going forward:
    • Right‑click a properly styled markup > Set as Default to ensure future markups match your standards.
    • Right‑click > Add to Tool Chest to save reusable tools for your team.
    • Use Match Properties to quickly mirror appearance from a “golden” markup to others when a panel edit isn’t ideal.

Pro tips

  • Use Layers to isolate disciplines, then multi‑select and reassign colors/line weights in one sweep per trade.
  • Need to rename a markup category across a set? Update the Subject field on a multi‑selection to normalize reporting and summaries.
  • Combine Markups List filters with Ctrl+A to batch‑edit statuses (Open, In Review, Complete) and tighten QA/QC cycles.
  • Locked or flattened markups won’t update; unlock as needed and flatten only at publish time.
  • In Studio Sessions, you can only modify markups you’re permitted to edit; check permissions first.
