Bluebeam Tip: Adopt 64‑bit Revu for Improved Memory, Stability, and Large‑PDF Performance

Working with massive, detail-rich PDFs? Use 64-bit Revu to unlock more memory, reduce crashes, and keep rendering smooth on today’s large plan sets.

Why 64-bit Revu matters:

  • Access to significantly more RAM than 32-bit, preventing out-of-memory errors on big sheets.
  • Smoother panning/zooming on heavy vector drawings and image-rich specs.
  • More headroom for complex markups, measurements, and Studio workflows.
  • Better stability when batch processing (OCR, Slip Sheet, Link, Export).

How to confirm and switch:

  • Check your build: Help > About. Look for “64-bit”. If it shows “32-bit,” plan an upgrade.
  • Back up your environment: Revu > Manage Profiles (export), Tool Chest (export tool sets), Stamps, and custom Columns/Statuses.
  • Verify Windows is 64-bit (Settings > System > About).
  • Download the 64-bit installer for your licensed version or move to the latest subscription build. For guidance and licensing, contact NOVEDGE.
  • Uninstall 32-bit Revu, then install 64-bit. Re-import Profiles, Tool Sets, and log back into Studio.

Get the most from 64-bit:

  • Equip 16–32 GB RAM (or more) for large, multi-sheet sets.
  • Keep your GPU drivers current and enable hardware acceleration in Revu Preferences if available.
  • Optimize big PDFs: Flatten nonessential markups, compress images, and remove unused objects before sharing.
  • Use Document Sets and Batch tools to manage scope without bloating a single file.
  • Monitor performance: Task Manager > Revu (64-bit) memory footprint during takeoffs and batch jobs.

Plugin considerations:

  • Match bitness across tools: 64-bit Revu works best with 64-bit Office/AutoCAD plugins.
  • If you rely on older 32-bit integrations, test in a pilot before full rollout.
