I’m working commonly with AutoCAD and sometimes with Pro/ENGINEER.
I downloaded the trial version with the intention to test the hybrid 3D solid and surface modeling (this ability interests me) announced in brief in your product introduction.
Because of my work, I didn’t have enough time to achieve this goal and the time allocated for the trial test has expired too quickly. I didn't re-download the program. I suggest you an amendment of the philosophy of trial to offer a longer time for testing. The reason is that a correct testing of a program with the complexity of Cobalt claims more then the actual duration.
However, between my daily tasks I performed same constructions in 3D solid version and I appreciated momentarily the comfort of the program interface use.

Its an excelent design tool from concepts and development of final pieces.
I think Cobalt need more formats to export and import documents of design.
In Guadalajara, and in the Universiti of Guadalajara whit the alumny I use Cobalt and I´m happy.
I have used Ashlar Cobalt, which comes with a 15 days trial, to try to model a building of historic interest.
I needed to find CAD software to create a 3D model starting from field data and a point cloud. The most difficult modeling problem was the irregular vaulted ceiling. Furthermore, I needed to produce several planar views and sections.
In addition to the challenging requirements, it has been exciting for me to have the chance to learn the software and build the 3D model within the 15 days trial period. I even had the time to create a few renderings of the building!
I believe that Cobalt is a very powerful product and I recommend it even for simpler projects. I am looking forward to purchase a full version of it.
