nanoCAD Plus is a professional CAD software with familiar interface, powerful drafting and design tools, DWG compatibility, and an open API. It supports so called 'ribbon' and 'classic' user interface styles, can read and write very old legacy DWG files along with the newest DWG 2018 ones and serves as well a robust platform for third-party addons.
Dynamic Data Input
With the help of dynamic input, you can set dimensions and parameters of the primitives in the workspace, without need to use a command line. Dynamic input is available both for creating and editing elements, which greatly simplifies the work with the drawing. It consist of three functional parts:
New Tool Palettes allow users to add standard blocks quickly and to invoke frequently used commands. If standard elements are not enough, you can create a tool palette with your own sets of blocks, hatching and scripts to load them in one click.
In nanoCAD Plus it is possible "on the fly" to create sets (filing) of documentation of any size in the form familiar for engineers. It allows to centrally manage hundreds of drawings in different files, and to use auto-numbering to avoid wasting time for sorting of sheets.
nanoCAD Plus can import IFC files into a DWG document. It is possible to perform numerous operations on imported BIM objects, such as to compile reports on models created in BIM-systems. Add to this an updated tools for 3D navigation in parallel and perspective projection, adaptive zoom, camera and observer head rotation, accelerated performance in saturated 3D models - and you will get a universal IFC-viewer based on DWG and BIM-models.
Compatibility with Other Solutions
nanoCAD Plus preserves information about proxy objects created in other CAD systems without changing the DWG file, which allows transferring data between nanoCAD Plus and third-party CAD without restrictions and creates a unified technological chain. Also, nanoCAD Plus supports 3D display of 3D objects (polygonal and triangular surfaces, solid boundaries). In this case, you can create drawings containing 3D objects without the need of an additional application.
Familiar User Interface
User interface and principles of operation of nanoCAD almost do not differ from widely known CAD systems, therefore any designer can master the program in the shortest possible time. Menus, ribbon, icons, toolbars and command line are easily recognizable, so there is almost no need for re-training. For convenience, nanoCAD Plus contains several visual themes, including dark (Graphite), which greatly reduces the burden on the eyes for long periods of usage. A new visual interface editor can customize almost every element of the program, and also transfer these settings from one workstation to another. nanoCAD Plus implements principles of the dynamic interface - the program adapts to the user's actions and offers the most expected functions. In particular, dynamic information entry serves to add and edit data directly in the working area of the document next to the cursor, and dynamic prompts help you navigate in sizes, coordinates, angles and other parameters.

Direct DWG Format Support
nanoCAD Plus directly works with DWG - the most popular format of engineering documentation. A wide range of supported versions (from DWG R11 to DWG2018) is possible to use without conversions and data loss to transfer between nanoCAD and other CAD systems to provide a unified process chain. The nanoCAD Plus system is one of the few platforms on the CAD market that offers full support for the DWG format and everything related to it. In nanoCAD Plus, you can work in virtual models and spaces, use customizable viewports, external links (XREF), block libraries and typical tool settings, as well as built-in tools for automatically saving and restoring drawings, creating backup copies of files and much more. In addition to the "classic" utilities for the DWG format, nanoCAD Plus offers a number of unique ones:
utilities for deleting and exploding proxy objects into primitives in order to find “stuck” proxy objects and remove them from the graphical database;
automatic drawing correction utility to correct damaged data: for example, objects scattered along the Z-coordinate can automatically return to the working plane of the drawing, which improves the processing speed and quality of work;
drawing manager, which displays tree view of the entire internal structure of DWG file and allows to browse file content, but also to quickly find them in the drawing, select, zoom in and, for example, delete them;
utility to change the encoding of text entities. It corrects DWG-files in which the names of layers, blocks, line types, etc became unreadable due to the code page lost.
Unique and Effective Features
If in “classic” CAD systems, monochrome raster underlays are non-editable background images, in nanoCAD Plus, they are full-fledged objects that can not only be stitched “as is”, but also can be modified. The Paste (as a raster) command instantly adds raster images to the nanoCAD Plus environment from any external source - the Internet, a graphic editor, a workflow system or any other application. In addition, nanoCAD Plus provides unique capabilities for working with monochrome and color raster images: the Raster menu contains basic editing tools (Eraser, Pencil, Fill) and fixes for the raster image (Deskew, Image Rotate, Four-point correction). For example, if you select any vector command (Line, Polyline, Dimension) and hover over a bitmap image, nanoCAD Plus will immediately catch all the snappings (End Point, Nearest, Center or Quadrant of a circle). Finally, a hybrid document with an edited underlay can be printed out in various formats (directly to a printer / plotter), saved in PLT format, exported to PDF or rasterized into an uneditable DWG file.
Add-ons Development ( .NET, C ++, JS, VBS and LISP open APIs)
nanoCAD Plus, like most of CAD platforms, offers a programming interface (API) for developing third-party applications and add-ons. Well-built architecture of the API allows to create applications of any complexity. For quick creation of utilities and small applications, developer can use with a help of built-in Script Editor for scripts based on ActiveX Automation (JS, VBS, etc.) as well as for LISP with DCL programs. More complex and feature-rich add-ons are usually developed in .NET or C ++. The Nanosoft supports and actively develops the nanoCAD Developer Club, whose members get access to the following types of APIs:
.NET API - API for developing .NET applications;
NRX - the classic C ++ API for creating and migrating applications in C ++;
MultiCAD API - a unique C ++ API for writing cross-platform CAD applications;
MultiCAD.NET API (alpha) is the alpha version of the cross-platform .NET API for creating custom primitives on .NET.
Drawing Comparison: The File comparison feature allows you to find the differences between the contents of the model space in two drawings: detect objects that have been modified, added, or removed in the compared drawings.
System Variable Monitor: The System variable monitor (SYSVARMONITOR) displays system variables, their brief description and values, allowing you to edit, sort, search them and track changes in real time.
Dynamic input mechanism: Dynamic input displays the command interface near the cursor in the drawing area. At the right time, current prompts, command requests, input fields, lists of selectable keywords, dimensions of edited geometry are displayed next to the cursor. Dynamic input consists of three functional parts:
Dynamic Prompts: Dynamic prompts provide an alternative way to enter command parameter values. In the tooltip field near the cursor, requests and prompts of the active command appear, necessary to complete the command. Data can be entered in the dynamic prompt fields instead of the command line. The list of available values and options can be expanded by pressing the DOWN ARROW key on the keyboard. Then choose the desired value with an ARROW keys and press ENTER.
Dimension Input: When you specify next point for a linear or an arc segment or a circle, the linear and angular dimensions are displayed on the screen relative to the previous point. These dimensions look like a dashed rubber line with a numerical field. As the cursor moves in the drawing area, dynamically displayed dimensions are constantly updated to reflect current values. By toggling the TAB key, switch to the required dimension value for editing it from the keyboard.
Improvements in the undo-redo functionality:
Undo after Saving: It's now possible to undo the operations performed after saving a document.
Preview for Undo/Redo: A preview of result of undoing (and redoing) operations in now available.
Efficiency of Work:
External References Notification: While working in a document, changes in the files of external references made by external programs are tracked. If an external link file was changed in a third-party application while working in the drawing, a warning message will appear and the indicator will change its status.
Popup Menu for Multifunctional Grips: In the new version, the parameters of multi-function grips are available not only when the CTRL key is pressed repeatedly, they also appear in the pop-up menu when you place cursor on the grip.
Semi transparency of edited 3D-objects: Now, objects edited with the Move, 3DMove, Rotate, 3DRotate, Scale, Stretch, Mirror, editing by grips, drag&drop commands are semitransparent during editing for better positioning in space.
Coordinate Filters: Coordinate filters are entered in response to a point request and define the axes along which coordinates will be set. You can enter the following filters: .x, .y, .z, .xy, .xz or .yz.
Bounding Prism – Viewport 3D Clip: For each model space viewport, you can create a bounding prism – an area in a three-dimensional space, beyond which all the graphics are not displayed.
Comments When Printing SHX Text to PDF: When printing to PDF, it is possible to convert SHX texts to PDF comments. Such comments will be created at the locations of text objects with the SHX font. Comments contain the full text of these objects. This allows you to search the contents of SHX text in a PDF document.
The Welcome Screen: The Welcome Screen completely redesigned. It became an interactive multi-functional window with a set of tabs, which allows you to create new documents, open existing ones, display and sort the list of previously opened documents, display their thumbnails, show a list of available applications with a description, links to training resources for each application, a list of new program features with a brief description.
Annotative Objects: Commands for displaying annotative objects created in third-party CAD programs are added to the ribbon and in the View menu of the classic interface.
The “About” Window: The About window was completely redesigned. Now it contains links to license file, trademarks and displays version number, build number, license status, server name and registration information.
