The biggest improvement is the ability to create a reflected environment from an image. The new interface can be a little confusing at first but took only a few hours to fully understand. Materials all look the same and lighting is still unpredictable and difficult to properly set up. All in all, if you are an avid flamingo user then it is worth the investment. If you are using a different engine like Maxwell or Vray for your final presentation imaging then skip this version.
