When using a digital tool like Bluebeam, getting to know the features and functionalities that are not always visible or obvious is key to optimizing your workflow. One such feature in Bluebeam is the Status Bar. Highly underrated, the Status Bar is packed with several hidden gems that can drastically increase efficiency in your workflows.
One of the most common requests from Bluebeam users is for an additional feature that enhances workflow efficiency. Interestingly, most of the time, the desired feature already exists within the Status Bar. Once discovered, it can be a game-changer. The visibility of the Status Bar can be toggled on and off using the F8 key. While some of its features may seem simple, each holds the potential for massive time savings and increased accuracy.
Here are some useful features found within the Status Bar:
The first button in the Status Bar activates the grid feature (hotkey: shift + F9). It overlays a visible grid on the document, offering visual guidelines for precision. However, the grid does not interact with content or markups and does not appear in print.
Activating this feature allows objects to snap to the nodes of the grid. This feature greatly increases precision and accuracy when moving or creating objects on the grid.
This useful feature allows the nodes of your markups to snap to embedded lines, curves, nodes, etc., within the document itself. This is especially useful when working with documents plotted from CAD.
Similar to Snap to Content, Snap to Markup allows markups to snap to other markups within the document, increasing precision and efficiency in your workflow.
This function allows you to use the same markup tool repetitively until the escape key is pressed or you right-click. This streamlines the process of drawing multiple similar objects, reducing the number of actions required.
This dropdown menu feature allows multiple windows of Bluebeam to maintain the same view, with one panning or zooming reflecting on the other(s). This is useful when working with multiple monitors or tabs.
Getting to know these hidden features in Bluebeam's Status Bar can greatly enhance your workflow efficiency. Harnessing these tools can reduce redundancies, streamline tasks, and increase accuracy in your working process. Remember, to discover these features, simply press the F8 key to reveal the Status Bar.
